HNC01 - CAPOTE POIRET
FABRIC
Half lined « Capote Poiret » Coat made using 100% black cashmere woven in Italy, offering silky smooth hand, warmth and a beautiful drape. The body is lined using traditional « métis » fabric, a blend of 50/50 cotton & linen woven for the brand in France, using late 19th century industrial looms, reproducing the historic feel and durability known to be characteristic of French vintage workwear garments. Sleeves are lined using traditional tailoring viscose / cotton ivory twill (50/50%), woven in Italy, offering both comfort and durability.
FIT AND CONSTRUCTION
Based on a historical pattern developed by Paul Poiret for the French army in September 1914, this coat features a very interesting design, without any back, shoulder or even side seam. The fabric is wrapped around the body and connects on the chest seam, draping beautifully on every shoulder. The side gussets give a wide range of motion, and the side buttoning allows the coat to be tucked at the hip or let loose (this design feature allowed soldiers to walk more freely in the trenches). The back is belted and can be adjusted for a tighter or looser fit. It features 3 outside signature diagonal inseam pockets, as well as 2 buttoned inside pockets. Following historical accuracy, the coat is half lined in « Métis » and the logo is hand stamped on every coat.
TREATMENT
This mid weight cashmere fabric is unwashed keeping its soft hand and beautiful brushed finish.
FINISHING
Handsewn keyhole silk buttonholes in the front and back belt, with 10 natural dark horn buttons, backed with leather patches for increased durability following historical accuracy, and 2 octogone real mother of pearl buttons on the inside pockets.
